"Having said that, I am out there riding horses every day for several hours. Then I come back in and do many exercises, to help with my strength, coordination, and, most importantly, my balance."

Hoketsu is the oldest Olympian since Swedish shooter Oscar Swahn won bronze at the age of 72 at the 1920 Antwerp Games and would ride into the record books if he was able to qualify for the Rio de Janeiro Games in 2016.

Such an outcome is unlikely, but don't rule it out just yet.

"My wife would like for this to be my last year of competition and that will probably be the case," Hoketsu said. "But I still feel my riding is improving, little by little. That is my motivation. I am a better rider at 70 than I was at 40. Most people can't tell but my body is getting a little weaker. My horse knows it and she helps me."

I explained to the campers that as an alternate you don?t give up your ideals, you keep training, you keep working, you move forward, you stick it out because if I get called to fulfill the team?s need I want to be ready.?

Joe Paterno is the symptom; college football is the disease.

Another example that college football is bloating even further is the playoff system that university presidents recently approved.

We?ll connect the dots of these two stories a few paragraphs down.

First a little housecleaning concerning the deepening hole that the late Paterno is buried in over former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky?s rape of young boys.

No. 1 issue: The statue.

No, Penn State shouldn?t remove the monument to its former head coach from outside the football stadium.

The likeness should remain but with the head twisted backward so Paterno is looking the other way like he did over Sandusky?s atrocities.

No. 2 issue: The death penalty.

No, the NCAA shouldn?t inflict Penn State?s football program with capital punishment.

If every esteemed university?s football program were suspended for a lack of integrity or institutional control, the entire sport would disappear.

Wait, maybe that isn?t such a bad idea.

Anyway, the oncoming four-team playoff will make the sport even larger, more important and more hypocritical.

This is like the restaurant review stating that the food is terrible and the portions are too small.

So many of us complain that college football is corrupt and that the portions are too small ... so let?s initiate a postseason that probably will lead to more corruption.

University administrators are complicit in this unfortunate dynamic. Fans of college football are. Members of the media are. We all feed the beast until the beast is full of itself.

Most of us can?t identify a coach we would trust with our worst enemy?s wallet, yet we continue to treat winning coaches like royalty. Yeah, sure, let?s expand the playoffs so these guys can play for bigger trophies and become even larger than larger than life.

There isn?t enough money polluting the sport so let?s generate more and encourage more lying, more cheating and more cover-ups.

There isn?t enough exploitation of supposed student-athletes so let?s send them out for more games and more practices.

There aren?t enough coaches like Paterno that are more dominant than anyone else on campus so let?s create more of them.

How many more championships before Alabama?s Nick Saban becomes as powerful as Paterno was? Or before Urban Meyer becomes the Big Ten?s new Paterno? Or before some conference, maybe one down south, becomes the organized crime of intercollegiate football?

Look, I?m not opposed to a playoff system. I?m opposed to one without corresponding measures to draw football back into the campus community.

Ideally, players wouldn?t be eligible as freshmen, which was the case until four decades ago, but that isn?t plausible.

Here?s something that is: Require football and basketball coaches to teach a couple of actual college classes. The objective would be to reduce them from iconic levels to academic levels.

Maybe they would stop thinking they can rule to the point of overruling their bosses in non-football matters, or at least stop being tempted to try.

Steps have to be taken to make it more difficult, if not impossible, for a head coach to exercise power over school administrators if an assistant coach rapes young boys on university property.

Short of these changes, OK then, assess the death penalty ... not just to Penn State but to the entire sport.

Cure the disease that is college football so the symptom that Joe Paterno has come to represent will disappear.

India and Mozambique Sign Agreement on Bilateral Security

India and Mozambique have signed an Agreement on Security Co-operation between the two countries. The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Mullappally Ramachandran signed the Agreement with Mr. Jose Mandra, Minister of Interior, Govt of Mozambique at Maputo, Mozambique today.

Earlier, he called on the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mozambique, Henrique Banze. The two leaders also discussed cooperation between the two countries and to develop these relations further in various fields for mutual benefit of the two countries.

The Minister also interacted with the Indian Diaspora in Mozambique at the reception held by the High Commissioner of India to Mozambique Dr. Ashok K. Amrohi last evening. There are about 25,000 people of Indian origin who have living in Mozambique for generations.

Shri Mullappally Ramachandran is on a three day visit to Mozambique.

Unrelenting Obama jabs at Romney's job record

CLIFTON, Va. (AP) ? An unrelenting President Barack Obama jabbed at Mitt Romney's record with a private equity firm in an ad Saturday that aimed to keep his rival on the defensive just as the Republican challenger's campaign hoped to take advantage of poor economic data to gain an edge on the incumbent.

Obama met Romney's plea for an apology for the attacks with a mocking ad that charged that the firm shipped American jobs to China and Mexico, that Romney has personal wealth in investments in Switzerland, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands, and that as Massachusetts governor, he sent state jobs to India.

"Mitt Romney's not the solution. He's the problem," the ads says as Romney is heard singing "America the Beautiful."

Pressure was building on Romney from within his own party to be more forthcoming with his finances, a day after he declared he would not release past income tax returns beyond his 2010 tax records and, before the November election, his 2011 taxes

On the sidelines of the National Governors Association meeting in Williamsburg, Alabama's Republican governor, Robert Bentley, called on Romney to release all the documents requested of him.

"If you have things to hide, then maybe you're doing things wrong," Bentley said. "I think you ought to be willing to release everything to the American people."

After Democrats seized on his words, Bentley later said he still believes Romney's taxes should be released and he believes in transparency, but he's wasn't implying that Romney has anything to hide.

A soaked Obama, campaigning in a downpour in closely contested Virginia, hewed to his middle class-centered pitch in remarks in Glen Allen, which lies in the district represented by one of his top Republican nemeses, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor. He attacked Romney and his Republican allies for pursuing what the president branded as outdated and discredited economic policies.

Obama didn't dwell on Romney's business record, leaving the sharpest attacks to his campaign and the new television commercial. Still he played up the charge that Romney and the private equity firm he founded in 1984, Bain Capital, sent jobs overseas.

"He invested in companies that have been called pioneers of outsourcing," the president said, his shirt drenched and water streaming down his face. "I don't want pioneers in outsourcing, I want some insourcing. I want to bring companies back."

Obama spoke to about 900 people in Glen Allen, arriving in a downpour. He eschewed a rain jacket or umbrella and apologized to the women for their ruined hairdos.

"We're gonna have to treat everybody to a salon visit after this" he quipped.

Later, as the rain continued without letup, he appealed for time to make one more point.

"Everybody's wet anyway" he said. "So it doesn't matter. It's too late. Those hairdos are all gone. "

Later Saturday, in Clifton, Va., Obama again tried to tie Romney to the loss of American jobs, contrasting himself with his rival.

"I want to stop giving tax breaks to companies that are shipping jobs overseas," Obama told the audience of 2,100 at Centreville High School. "Let's give those tax breaks that are investing right here in Virginia, right here in the United States of America, hiring American workers to make American products to sell around the world."

Romney's spokeswoman, Andrea Saul, fired back Saturday, accusing the president of being less than truthful about Romney's record.

"The American people deserve the truth and they certainly deserve better from their president," Saul said, from Boston.

While Obama hammered Romney for a second consecutive day in Virginia, Romney spent time with his family in New Hampshire. The candidate, taking a weekend off from public events, spent the morning at his lake house, working on his iPad on the lawn while his grandchildren played nearby. His last public event was Wednesday and he didn't plan other public campaign appearances until Tuesday.

Romney aides began the week drumming Obama on stubbornly high unemployment but watched their upper hand fade. Romney's advisers said Saturday they would keep their plan and not be distracted by Obama's criticism. Romney aides declined to weigh in on Obama's latest criticism and pointed to Romney's television interviews on Friday.

The intensifying attacks and the calls for greater openness came amid stepped up attention to discrepancies between Securities and Exchange Commission filings and Romney's recollection of his role at Boston-based Bain Capital.

At stake is Romney's chief contention that as a former businessman, he has the experience to create jobs and spur a struggling economy. The Obama campaign has countered that Romney ran a firm that pioneered the practice of sending American jobs out of the country and that his background is one of an investor.

The new Obama ad was set to run in closely fought Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

In a round of interviews broadcast Friday evening, the Republican candidate said he wouldn't release more tax returns beyond the 2010 and 2011 returns.

"You can never satisfy the opposition research team of the Obama organization," Romney told CBS on Friday.

And he demanded an apology from Obama for the attacks. "This is simply beneath the dignity of the presidency of the United States," Romney told ABC.

Backhanding the request, the Obama campaign responded with a Web video that shows Romney criticizing Obama in speeches and interviews. Romney is seen accusing the president of not understanding freedom and following an appeasement strategy in foreign affairs, and saying he intends to "stuff it down his throat and point out that it is capitalism and freedom that makes this country strong."

On the flight from Washington to Richmond, Obama campaign spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki said that Romney "spends a lot of time asking for apologies, but he spends a lot of time attacking."

It wasn't just Obama, though, pressuring Romney.

"There is no whining in politics," chided John Weaver, a veteran Republican strategist. "Stop demanding an apology, release your tax returns."

Obama said the questions raised in numerous media reports and highlighted by his own campaign aides were a legitimate part of the race for the White House.

"Ultimately, I think, Mr. Romney is going to have to answer those questions because if he aspires to being president, one of the things you learn is you're ultimately responsible for the conduct of your operations," Obama said in an interview with the District of Columbia's WJLA-TV.

Romney called that "Chicago-style politics at its worst" and accused the president, who's from Chicago, and his campaign of trying to shift attention from the economy and unemployment situation.

In trying to put the matter behind him and return the campaign to his economic arguments, Romney declared he had "no role whatsoever in the management" of the company after he left to take over the Salt Lake City Olympic Games in early 1999.

Romney acknowledged that he would have benefited financially from Bain's operations even after he left management of the firm to others. That could open him up to criticism that he gained from investment in companies that sent jobs overseas.

"All of the investors participate in the success or failure of various investments, just like you do as a shareholder of an enterprise," Romney told CBS.

Bain Capital said in a statement that Romney "remained the sole stockholder for a time while formal ownership was being documented and transferred to the group of partners who took over management of the firm in 1999."

NCAA Makes It Official: No Reprieve For UConn Men

UConn is out of appeals. The process, due or not, has run its course. The men's basketball team will not play in the 2013 postseason.

The NCAA Committee on Academic Performance concluded its meeting Friday without making any changes in policies that were adopted last fall. UConn, by virtue of past Academic Progress Rate scores, falls short of the standards. This was UConn's last hope for a reprieve.

"[The committee] reviewed and reaffirmed our current policies and procedures regarding Academic Progress Rate data and implementation of academic penalties and/or postseason eligibility," said Walter Harrison, University of Hartford president and chair of the Committee on Academic Performance, in a statement.

"After discussion over several meetings, the committee concluded the current process is effective and achieves a careful and appropriate balance," Harrison said. "We expect to continue with these policies and procedures in the future."

Under the new standards and penalty structure beginning in 2014, schools will have to maintain a 930 APR over a four-year rolling average. Next year, schools will need to have a 930 over two years or 900 over four years. UConn, which scored an 826 for the 2009-10 academic year, was therefore eliminated as soon as the rules were adopted. The program scored a 978 for 2010-11, the year it won the national championship, but even a perfect score of 1,000 could not have offset the 826. School officials said their score for the just-completed 2011-12 academic year is at least as high as 978, but that data will not be announced and considered until next spring.

UConn, citing recent improvement, applied for a waiver, offering its own set of penalties, but the NCAA rejected it in January, and the Committee on Academic Performance rejected it on appeal in April.

"Warde Manuel and Susan Herbst still believe in the points we made," said UConn associate director of athletics Mike Enright. "We believe strongly they were valid; we believe it could have been done in a way so that scores from the 2011-12 academic year counted toward eligibility in 2013."

The CAP studied several proposals for using more recent scores to implement its penalties but found none workable. Some schools use trimesters, others quarterly sessions, so deciding when an academic year begins and ends complicated the process. Meetings in February and April produced no change.

UConn President Susan Herbst, athletic director Warde Manuel and coach Jim Calhoun have repeatedly asked the NCAA to use more recent scores rather than penalize current players for predecessors' subpar grades. No current UConn player was on the team that scored 826 in 2009-2010. Manuel and Gov. Dannel P. Malloy have said the NCAA unfairly applied its new penalty structure "retroactively."

Under the penalty, UConn's practice schedule will be limited to five days a week instead of the normal six, and "coaching activities" will be reduced from 20 hours a week to 16.

And the Huskies' 2012-13 season will end with the final game of the regular season in early March. Big East presidents voted to keep the Huskies out of the conference tournament in New York. The NIT, which is affiliated with the NCAA, will not invite UConn, and other minor postseason tournaments, which hope to maintain a working relationship with the NCAA and its members, are not likely to offer an alternative.

The Huskies have scheduled several high-profile nonconference games to help keep the program in the national spotlight. UConn will play Michigan State at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany on Nov. 9, will appear in the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands later in November and will play North Carolina State in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 4 and Washington on Dec. 29 at either Gampel Pavilion or the XL Center.

The standoff between DirecTV and Viacom risks accelerating the move away from television to iPads and smart phones ? and the expectation of access to content anywhere, anytime.

A war of words is raging between Viacom and DirecTV, after the satellite firm dropped 26?of the cable company?s channels from its lineup late Tuesday night.

As a result, some 20 million subscribers are without?channels ranging from Comedy Central to MTV, Nickelodeon, and Spike TV. Both sides have taken to the Internet in a free-for-all blogfest, as each blames the other for the blackout.

But the corporate brawl over how much the satellite firm should pay the cable firm is, well, fussing with the deck furniture while the proverbial ship sails into ever rougher waters, say media analysts. Meanwhile, the real risk is that customers, with an ever-increasing menu of entertainment options, will simply move on.?

As one customer recently tweeted: "Watching @Viacom and @DirecTV is like watching Titanic passengers fighting over the last salmon roll. YOUR MEDIUM IS A SINKING SHIP."

This dispute will only make the ongoing media transition move more quickly, says Fordham University media professor Paul Levinson, author of ?New New Media.? Consumers don?t care where their content comes from, he says, noting that all the various new media from iPads to smart phones are working together to make access to favorite content available anywhere, anytime. ?All this is doing is speeding up the convergence that is already under way,? he adds.

The two big media entities deadlocked over competing proposals late Tuesday, when according to DirecTV spokesman Robert Mercer, the satellite provider had no choice but to pull the plug. ?They sent us a letter telling us we were obligated to remove the channels at midnight or face legal action,? he says via e-mail, adding that this was ?after we formally asked them to keep the channels up while we negotiated past the deadline.?

Mr. Mercer says that Viacom ?refused.? The company ?had to comply with their demand ahead of the midnight deadline to avoid having any of the channels up past midnight, which again would have violated the terms dictated by their letter," he says. It's not as easy as flipping a switch, he adds: ?The process of removing linear and VOD channels takes time."

Viacom declined to comment beyond its blog posts, in which company spokesman Mark Jafar writes, ?DirecTV dropped the channels without giving Viacom advanced warning. The last time Viacom was contacted by DirecTV was at approximately 11:00 a.m on Tuesday morning.?

In its official statement, Viacom said: ?We are deeply disappointed that DirecTV dropped Viacom?s channels before our midnight deadline this evening, severing our connection with its nearly 20 million subscribers nationwide. We proposed a fair deal that amounted to an increase of only a couple pennies per day, per subscriber, and we remained willing to negotiate that deal.?

Whoever is ?right? in this battle, both sides lose, says David Bartlett, senior vice president of Levick Strategic Communications, a crisis management firm in Washington. ?This puts the customers in the middle of a corporate?fight,? he says. ?This is precisely the wrong tactic.?

Customers, he adds, don?t care who is right. They care about their programming.

The biggest factor driving customer choice is convenience, says Edward Arke, associate professor of communication at Messiah College in Grantham, Pa. ?Whoever can provide the most convenient way to access the programming will be the 'winner,' ? he says via e-mail.

That's why the standoff between Viacom and DirectTV carries such long-term risk to the the television industry. "With DISH and DirecTV as really the only competition to cable, depending on the length and subsequent damage Direct sustains as a result of the impasse, this has the potential to send waves throughout the market,? writes Professor Arke.

Moreover, customers can expect more, not less of this sort of disruption as the marketplace sorts itself out. From the 1920s to the '80s, there was a nice, stable model for who pays how much to whom, says Robert Thompson, founder of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture at Syracuse University in Syracuse, N.Y. But with the advent of cable, then satellite, then the Internet, ?the whole business model has been thrown up in the air," he adds. "Nobody knows who should pay how much and to whom. It?s going to be awhile before the smoke settles around this ship."

I had the extreme pleasure of photographing my cousin Julia?s wedding this past weekend. She and Trent tied the knot in an adorable, personalized and unique ceremony. They?re an incredibly special couple and that was increasingly apparent through the special touches in their ceremony, on the centerpieces, or in the small touches of their personality here and there.

It was a terrific outdoor wedding in Brookings, South Dakota, where the two of them went to college. The ceremony and reception were both held in the same place, in the gorgeous and luscious backyard of Trent?s grandparent?s home.

Julia and Trent walk down the aisle to "Home" by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.

The ceremony was tailored to their unique relationship ? the bride and groom?s recessional was Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero?s ?Home,? and the personalized to be both sweet and silly.

The ceremony space before the wedding, complete with hand-made yarn balls hanging from the trees.

Throughout the backyard, there were little touches of Trent and Julia everywhere ? mason jars filled with flowers from the gardens of friends and family, favorite board games on the reception tables and little hand-drawn signs directing guests to different sections of the celebration. The overall view of the place was breathtaking, but even a closer eye unveiled simple, appreciated touches of the couple.

Signs were displayed around the wedding site directing guests to different spaces during the night.

And of course, in true Julia fashion, she let me let loose on picture-taking, letting my vision guide how I saw the day. It would?ve been hard to not show the joy, fun and love that everyone was experiencing that day.

The reception-area tables featured vintage books, laced together with a hole cut in the middle for a vase. They also had repurposed wine bottles that served as candle-holders and baskets with old board games.

Web-based malware determines your OS, then strikes

New malware that is spread via the Web, and is operating system-agnostic, has been discovered by researchers at F-Secure.

The malware uses social engineering by showing this "warning" (top?version shown here is for Windows, the bottom is?for Mac) when a user visits the tainted page and gets the "warning."

It doesn't matter which operating system you're using, says F-Secure; the file first?"checks if the user's machine is?running in Windows, Mac or Linux then downloads the appropriate files for the platform."

The payload? "Once it has found out which operating system you are running, the Java class file will download the appropriate flavor of malware, with the intention of opening a backdoor that will give hackers remote access to your computer," writes Sophos Security's Graham Cluley on that company's blog.

Topher Kessler of CNET's Blog Network notes that if "at any?point you see a program, applet, or other resource attempt to use a self-signed certificate, then be sure you personally trust the source before using it (i.e., it is from a server you own or manage)."

Legitimate vendors will "use certificates signed by an authority like VeriSign, which authenticates to the root certificates in your system to ensure applets and other transactions with the service are legitimate and secure," he writes.

Cluley notes that this "isn't, of course, the first cross-platform malware that we have seen. For instance, in 2010 we saw the?Boonana malware?which similarly used a malicious Java applet to deliver a cross-platform attack that attempts to download further malware on Windows, Unix and Mac OS X."

With more malware attacks on Apple's OS in the past year, and ongoing strikes against Windows-based systems, "although the amount of malware written for different operating systems can vary, it's becoming increasingly hard to argue on any OS that it's safe to surf the Web without anti-virus protection," Cluley wrote. And it's hard to argue with that.

NKorea TV shows 'Rocky' clips, plays 'My Way'

PYONGYANG, North Korea (AP) ? North Korea is tapping into some American-style movie inspiration by showing the film icon Rocky Balboa pounding his Soviet rival.

State TV on Wednesday ran taped footage of young leader Kim Jong Un at a concert that played a rendition of the famous "Rocky" theme song and showed clips of the pumped-up American film character boxing against his Cold War rival Ivan Drago.

Appearing to glorify a popular American entertainment icon is an unusual move for Pyongyang, which regularly unleashes invective at its former wartime enemy.

The band also played "My Way" popularized by Frank Sinatra.

The concert last week also featured Disney characters in a performance not authorized by the Walt Disney Co.

Kim was accompanied at the concert by a woman who has not been identified.

Heat get 2 new shooters; no deal for Magic center

The Miami Heat got two more shooters. The Orlando Magic, at least for now, are keeping their center.

A flurry of deals were completed Wednesday and another one was put on hold on the first day contracts could be signed in the NBA.

Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis inked their deals with the NBA champions, who will rely on their perimeter accuracy to create more space on the court for LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

The Spurs announced Tim Duncan was staying in San Antonio and the Knicks completed a sign-and-trade to bring Marcus Camby to New York. But there's no deal for the best big man of them all in the NBA right now.

The Magic can't find an agreement they like for All-Star center Dwight Howard, who has asked for a trade to Brooklyn. The Magic have tried to accommodate, only to find nothing from the Nets that fit their desires.

"We've had discussions with Brooklyn, we've had discussions with a host of different teams about a host of different issues. And the answer is, 'Yes we're still talking to them,'" Magic general manager Rob Hennigan said. "We're still looking to do whatever it is that puts us in the best position from a sustainability standpoint, (and) from a strategic standpoint.

"... Currently as they stand I think the parameters that we've talked about are a little bit in a stationary position. And currently as it's constructed I'm not sure there's really anything to discuss."

Instead, the Nets re-signed their current center, Brook Lopez, to an extension. He had been linked to the Howard trade talk for months but knows he will at last begin the season in Brooklyn, ineligible to be traded until Jan. 15.

Free agency opened July 1 and teams were able to begin signing players at 12:01 a.m. EDT Wednesday. Deron Williams got a quick start, signing his five-year, $98 million extension with the Nets while in Las Vegas for the U.S. Olympic team's training camp right after the window opened.

Even though he hasn't been able to get Howard, Nets general manager Billy King kept Williams, traded for All-Star guard Joe Johnson and forward Reggie Evans, kept starting forward Gerald Wallace and signed Bosnian forward Mirza Teletovic.

"Billy's done a good job of making some big moves and it makes us relevant again," Williams said. "Just the move to Brooklyn itself, being in New York, makes things better."

Things are looking up for another longtime lowly team, the Los Angeles Clippers. Blake Griffin wanted to be a part of it, signing a five-year extension that could pay him about $95 million.

"It's exciting and that was the goal from day one, to start building something and not just fall into the history of the program," Griffin said of the Clippers, who also signed guard Jamal Crawford, "and I think we've done a good job of turning the ship in the right direction."

Allen decided to leave one good situation for another, taking less money from the Heat than the Celtics were offering. With he and Lewis, Miami will have options all over the court.

"You've got to double-team LeBron. You have to double-team Dwyane Wade. You've got to double-team Chris Bosh. And then you think they're going to leave Ray Allen open?" Lewis said. "They've got to leave somebody open. So I have to go shoot a million jumpers tonight and be ready to knock them down."

Another good 3-point shooter, Ryan Anderson, has a new home. After leading the league in 3-pointers last season and winning the NBA's Most Improved Player award, he was dealt by the Magic to New Orleans for Mexican Gustavo Ayon.

The Hornets have three days to decide if they want Eric Gordon to play with Anderson. He signed an offer sheet in Phoenix for four years and $58 million, but New Orleans has three days to match the deal for the restricted free agent.

?The Knicks brought Camby back to New York in a sign-and-trade with Houston and re-signed guard JR Smith. They were still working to complete deals with Jason Kidd and Steve Novak, both of which had already been agreed to.

And even with Kidd coming aboard, Jeremy Lin will enter next season as the Knicks' starting point guard. Coach Mike Woodson repeated that the Knicks would "absolutely" match an offer sheet Lin had agreed to sign with Houston, and that he would go to training camp as the starter.

?The Toronto Raptors acquired point guard Kyle Lowry from Houston and signed fellow guard Landry Fields to a three-year offer sheet worth nearly $20 million that the Knicks would have three days to match.

?Golden State sent Dorell Wright to the Philadelphia 76ers in a three-team trade that moved guard Jarrett Jack from the New Orleans Hornets to the Warriors.

?The Portland Trail Blazers and free agent J.J. Hickson have agreed to a 1-year deal, it was confirmed by the forward's agent, Andy Miller.

?Seven-foot center Chris Kaman tweeted that he has agreed to a deal with the Dallas Mavericks, giving him a chance to play with friend and former German Olympic teammate Dirk Nowitzki. The deal for Kaman is for one year, according to a person familiar with the agreement. That person also said Dallas was planning to use the amnesty clause on center Brendan Haywood.

?The Thunder announced the signings of Hasheem Thabeet, the overall No. 2 pick in 2009, and undrafted free agent Hollis Thompson.

Amid all the dealing, there was no chance Duncan was going anywhere. Terms were not disclosed, though Yahoo Sports cited anonymous sources in reporting the 36-year-old forward got a three-year, $36 million deal from the Spurs.

"Tim Duncan has established himself as one of the best players in NBA history," coach Gregg Popovich said. "He is an unselfish superstar who loves to compete and has only one goal when he steps on the court ? to do whatever it takes to help his team win. We are all thrilled that he'll spend his entire career as a San Antonio Spur."
